Merci, Yvette!

When I contacted Yvette my oldest son had a lot of anxiety and significant developmental challenges that were reflected mostly in high difficulty walking, climbing stairs, sitting or getting up. His speech was also affected.

We've been doing the Home Movement Program daily. We saw emotional and physical progress from the first few weeks - more inner peace, more emotionally balanced, more stability in the legs and knees. A few months after we started it was clear to all of us who knew him that for the first time in his life he started to be connected and present in his body. As we continue with the program we've seen more emotional and mental maturity, more capacity to integrate feedback in his life, more insights and growing ability to understand relating with others. Thanks to Yvette we've learnt what is the best path for improvement, who are the other professionals to be part of our team and what are the stages he needs to go through for the best overall impact. The progress has been amazing from the start and it grows day by day. We are grateful we found her and we'll work with her until all that is possible is reached!

We decided there was a problem once my son was still having voiding accidents at 7 years old (grade 2).

Despite passing through potty training for the most part around age 3.5 years, he just kept soiling his pants at school on an occasional basis.  We tried treating constipation, scheduled potty time, probiotics - not much helped.  He insisted that it just came out and he couldn't feel it happening, but would notice the odor and then get very embarrassed.  When his schoolteacher also noticed he was really awkward and couldn't move well in dance class, she suggested an evaluation for primitive reflexes with Yvette.  The evaluation was extremely thorough and indicated he had some very strongly retained reflexes in his lower back - not only did this potentially explain his voiding difficulties but was also associated with him being quiet and unexpressive - which was also a classic description of our son.  We worked with Yvette over about 6-9 months in total with 1 in-person session every 4-6 weeks and ~daily homework exercises for about 10-15min.  We also did a few treatments with a specialized chiropractor who also worked with reflexes but in a different way.  The reflex homework routines fit in relatively easily with our bedtime routine and over time, our son not only got used to and started liking the exercises, but he also eventually stopped having accidents.  During this time he also became a lot more expressive and all his grandparents even noticed how much more talkative he was - he would finally tell us all about his day when we picked him up at school.  He was truly a new person and has had 0 accidents since part-way through the program.  As a healthcare provider, I knew there was not much to offer my son at the doctor's office - I am so thankful to have found the primitive reflexes and help my son thrive.

My child was experiencing sustained primitive reflexes that were impacting her gross motor development.

They also had not crawled so had a weak core. We had an assessment by Yvette at Nibble Kids and she provided a comprehensive report to educate us on how the primitive reflexes were impacting our child’s development. She provided a home movement program focused on eliminating the reflexes and strengthening the core, and trained us to support our child to do it. We worked on the home movement program 15 minutes a day as frequently as we could, each week for about 6 months. During this time Yvette came and assessed the progress and provided adaptations to the home movement program to influence our child's progress. After working with Nimble Kids we are pleased to see our child’s development has advanced. Our child is stronger and more confident in their gross motor development, and the primitive reflexes are no longer present.

Thanks, Yvette’s we’ve really enjoyed working with you.

We contacted Nimble Kids because one of our children was frequently looking sideways due to visual/eye coordination difficulties, while our other child was walking on tippy toes.

We followed Yvette’s Home Movement Program and spent about 15 minutes per day on exercises for each child. After a few months of consistent practice, we noticed clear progress in both children, including improved eye focus and coordination, as well as better walking posture and reduced toe walking. We appreciated Yvette’s guidance and support throughout the program.

She was consistently caring, attentive, and deeply in tune with our son’s individual needs. Her knowledge of retained primitive reflexes and how to support their integration was especially impressive and clearly guided her approach. Through her support and the Home Movement Program, we saw meaningful progress in Luka, particularly in his reading and writing skills as well as his emotional regulation. He became more confident, more engaged in learning, and better able to manage frustration. We are very grateful for Yvette’s expertise and dedication, and the impact she has had on our son’s development.

Where to start !!

Upon the first phone call with Yvette I felt as though I was finally going in the right direction. I needed help with my daughter who was having a very difficult time at school, unable to follow basic direction, concentration, co-ordination of certain movements and just an overall disconnect with the world around her.

Yvette’s testing blew my mind, brought things to my attention that other health care professionals should have noticed and never did. Her home movement program was designed specifically for my daughter and at her level. Sometimes it was a challenge to get the exercises done and find the time. Upon expressing my concerns with Yvette, she refined things and gave us a very time efficient routine that took us about 10 minutes a day alternating 2 routines which we did one day on and one day off. Sure we were not perfect a consistent all the time but even getting to the exercises 4 days a week for 10 minutes, I could see improvements in my daughters co-ordination, concentration and ability to process school work.

Our favourite technique was the calming of the nervous system which we did often at night and my daughter’s face would light up at the end with a smile and say “ahh that feels so good”.

We worked with Nimble Kids for about 2 years where we both fell in love with Yvette and used her wonderful suggestions and guidance. My daughter is now doing better.

I would recommend Yvette at Nimble Kids to all parents. She is a rare Gem! Thank you!!! -

Yvette’s work with our son was both life changing and inspiring for our whole family.

We sought out Yvette’s help for our 9 year old son because we were at wits end and we were at a loss with how to help him with issues he’d had since toddler age. We thought these things would ease off as he got older and he would “grow out of them” but everything just got worst and was affecting our whole family and his social life. His meltdowns were getting worst and more violent. He could not communicate his emotions at all. He had a lot of anger and frustration and would often take it out on his sister. He was developing obsessive compulsive behaviors. He was struggling to integrate in group settings. He was not able to read situations and understand what level of energy was appropriate. He was very much stuck in his logical brain. It seemed that everywhere we went he was “the challenging/problem child”.

After 7 months of working with Yvette, seeing her once a month and doing the work at home, 5 days a week, about 15 minutes per day, he has developed into a much more emotionally stable boy. His relationship with his father has flourished. He no longer has meltdowns. He is no longer violent with his sister or me (mom). His artistic abilities and interests have grown a lot. He is able to talk about how he feels. He is a happier, more joyful person. He is calmer and able to center himself. We haven’t had much experience in groups yet due to the pandemic but I feel that he now has the tools he needs to build healthy and deep friendships in a group setting. Right from the beginning, he and Yvette had a special connection. She really saw him for who he is and accepted him wholeheartedly. That means a lot to us and I know it means a lot to him as well! I love how patient, loving and kind she always was with him. Thank you for everything Yvette! We are eternally grateful for your presence in our family’s life.

She helped my teenaged son deal with a learning disability, anxiety, and dizziness

Yvette was referred to us by a friend and she has been a God send. Thanks to the various therapies and her calming and compassionate approach, she helped my teenaged son deal with a learning disability, anxiety, and dizziness. He has since been able to surmount a number of challenges that were preventing him from reaching his full potential. Just this week he received letters of acceptance from both a college and a university, passed his G2 licence driver’s test on his first try, and got a raise as a result of a great performance review at work. Yvette has been an important part of my son’s health and success team. Thank you Yvette, we can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done for our son!

Our nine-year old daughter was having behavioral challenges at school ...

We were referred to Yvette as our then nine-year old daughter was
having behavioral challenges at school -- she found it difficult to sit
still, stay within her space, and focus on her work. It seemed that she
was uncomfortable in her own body. As a result, our daughter felt
anxious and frustrated when it came to learning new things, such as
reading.

During the assessment, Yvette guided our daughter through numerous
tests to determine the root causes of her difficulties. Yvette's
patience and attention to detail as well as her ability to relate to and
connect with our child made it possible for our daughter to be at ease
and follow Yvette's instructions. Yvette determined that some of our
daughter's reflexes had not integrated, so she created a plan which
contained a series of exercises to be done at home. Exercises consisted
of a series of repetitive movements taking approximately a half hour 4-5
days a week. A flow was created, as one movement lead to the next. We
were surprised at the initial thought process required to do the
movements, but the positive outcome was well worth the effort. In
addition, Yvette provided further resources and referrals, all of which
proved to be very helpful.

Over the course of six months, Yvette visited to observe our child's
progress and to implement additional exercises to support her
development. The transformation we witnessed during this time was truly
astounding. Our daughter went from shying away from reading and
challenging school work to discovering her love of reading and the
ability to sit and focus, to fully engage with the task at hand.

Reflecting back, we realize it would have been advantageous to have had
this assessment done when our daughter was an infant or toddler. We
would recommend an assessment by Yvette to anyone with young children.
Yvette's attention to detail, knowledge and wisdom reflect her passion
for and commitment to helping children reach their full potential. We
will always be grateful for Yvette's support.
